Program Objectives
The Bridging Youth to Success program will:
? Deliver employability skills through work experience intervention to immigrant youth, directly assisting them in finding and maintaining employment or a return to school
? Facilitate and support the role of Calgary businesses in the integration and employment of immigrant youth through work experience, networking and internships
? Establish contacts and partnerships with professional associations, regulatory bodies, community partners, and educational institutions
Basic Function
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Employment Outreach Developer is responsible for contacting the business community to develop employer associates for work experience opportunities for clients. This position requires the ability to promote, facilitate, liaise and provide one-on-one support to clients and the larger community.
Major Responsibilities
? Client service and program delivery skills
? Personalized support for clients in finding a work experience placement
? Facilitate meetings with community members and deliver information sessions
? Ability to develop promotional material
? Must be able to function independently
? Skill to exercise discretion and judgment in sensitive matters
? Program administration skills including budgeting, report writing and strong communication skills
? Must be competent in using Microsoft Office Suite 2007
Characteristic Duties
? Knowledge of the Calgary and Alberta labour markets
? Knowledge of immigration and refugee settlement issues
? Well-developed needs assessment skills
? Relationship-building skills
? Familiarity working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and appreciation of cultural diversity
? Strong work ethic, leadership and the ability to multi-task in a cross-cultural environment
Minimum Qualifications
? Relevant undergraduate university degree or college diploma
? Second language capability preferred
