Area Team Leaders Needed for The Salvation Army's 2009 Christmas Kettle Campaign
Position Summary:
The Area Team Leader (ATL) position for the Christmas Kettle Campaign is a short term, contract opportunity. The ATL plays an integral role in The Salvation Army’s Public Relations and Development Department, overseeing the general coordination of the Christmas Kettles for one specific geographical area of the city. This position is responsible for recruiting, scheduling and supervising volunteers; liaising with location contacts; and working as a team with the City Coordinator, Assistant City Coordinator and Assistant Area Team Leader.
Reporting to: Development Officer of Special Projects
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Recruit and schedule volunteers for a designated city locations.
• Liaise daily with team members, volunteers and location contacts.
• Track and submit paperwork as required; including timesheets, expense and final reports.
• Ensure schedules and timetables are accurately followed.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Preference will be given to graduates with, or those currently enrolled in, a post secondary education emphasizing Volunteer Management, Business Administration, or Human Resources. Related work experience will also be considered.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Capable of supervising and coaching volunteers and employees.
• Ability to work well independently and as a team leader.
• Confidence in making decisions quickly and accurately.
• Capacity to retain large amounts of information.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, to be used for business purposes, is required. (Mileage reimbursed at $0.40/km for related duties).
Terms of Employment:
• Expected to work 60 hours between November 2, 2009 and November 18, 2009 recruiting and scheduling volunteers while setting up for the campaign.
• Expected to work Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. (times are flexible), from November 19 until December 24, 2009.
• Hourly wage of $16.00.
• Overtime will be paid only when previously approved.
• Loyalties to The Salvation Army in demeanor, word and deed.
• Professional attire is necessary at all times.
