REGULATORY PARALEGAL REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY (CALGARY, AB)

REGULATORY PARALEGAL- Commercial Litigation
The Calgary office of one of Canada's largest law firms, is seeking a Paralegal in their Commercial Litigation practice group.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interfacing with senior and junior staff at the National Energy Board, Alberta Utilities Commission, Energy Resources Conservation Board
- Keeping current with, monitoring and searching various regulatory websites
- Arranging for electronic filing and service of documents
- Performing practice administration duties with respect to accounting, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc.
- Preparing hearing binders and assisting lawyers with preparing for hearings before the various Regulatory bodies
- Organizing and expedite flow of work
- Initiating documents from precedents and formatting documents in a consistent manner
- Diarizing matters and initiating follow-up as required
- Organizing and maintaining client files
- Maintaining the Regulatory Library
- Communicating with clients, other lawyers and assistants as necessary
- Scheduling meetings using Meeting Manager
- Perform clerical, administrative and general office duties (i.e., answering and directing calls, responding to inquiries, photocopying, faxing, and filing)
- Making travel arrangements
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work with a group of lawyers to prioritize work demands
- Clear and concise writing skills
- Detail oriented with a strong ability to proof-read and format documents to ensure a polished product
- A working familiarity with Summation and other litigation support systems
- Minimum 2 years litigation experience
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of legal vocabulary
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers
- Excellent multi-tasking skills
- A self starter, with an ability and willingness to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision
- Able to set own priorities while maintaining flexibility
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Availability and willingness to work overtime, when necessary
- Legal Assistant Diploma preferred
