In House Paralegal
at RSG Recruiting in Calgary
Reporting to Legal Counsel, the Paralegal is accountable for providing legal assistance of a highly confidential nature.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
•Assisting in managing litigation files, including dealing with outside counsel and business contacts, responding to subpoenas, document requests, interrogatories and audit enquiries
•Assisting in reviewing and drafting contracts
•Supporting the due diligence process for mergers and acquisitions
•Organizing and maintaining files and legal pleadings including typing memos, letters, reports and other legal documentation
•Establishing and maintaining a working relationship with Senior Executives, Management, outside legal firms, regulatory agencies and government officials
•Working as part of a team with other paralegals and departments on special projects
•Research projects, as required
Qualifications:
•Post-secondary education with an associated degree, certificate or diploma and a minimum of 2 - 3 years legal experience or equivalency
•High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, exercise good judgment and work with discretion and flexibility in order to meet changing work loads and priorities
•Self-directed with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision and take initiative when required
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with all levels of the organization
•Well-developed problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
•Previous litigation experience is essential
