HelloWestTravel.com is an online travel trade magazine published by Logimonde Inc. The magazine features the latest travel industry news for western Canadian travel professionals and is delivered to 6,413 subscribers every Monday through Thursday.
HelloWestTravel.com is seeking applicants for Freelance Journalists in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Freelance Journalist Job Description is as follows:
Our ideal candidate has a pleasant demeanour, a professional appearance, and has an energetic, enthusiastic and positive attitude. You should possess excellent interpersonal and networking skills and be comfortable interacting with others, as you will be attending important industry events on behalf of HelloWestTravel.com.
You will be required to work some evenings as events dictate, so a flexible and open schedule is necessary.
You’re a person who is not afraid to go out and seek the story, rather than waiting for the story to come to you. You have a good work ethic and take pride in your work, and see all your projects through to completion.
DUTIES
The successful candidate will:
- Represent Logimonde at industry events; conducting event reportage and photography
- Work on tight deadlines and put together timely and interesting coverage
- Conduct full-length feature interviews with industry leaders
- Conduct breaking news interviews and/or follow up interviews with industry professionals
REQUIRED SKILLS
-Minimum 2-3 years experience working in a digital/online environment a plus
-Journalism degree
-Proven ability to write clean copy on tight deadlines
-Excellent written communications skills
-Familiarity with CP style
-Attention to detail; proven skill in substantial editing, copyediting
-Excellent internet research skills & problem-solving abilities
-Proven ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment with minimal supervision
-Experienced user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
-Good working knowledge of HTML a plus
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
You must have access to a reliable vehicle.
