Sr Civil Litigation LAA (Downtown Calgary)
at Jobs in Calgary in Calgary
This position is directly responsible to a sole practitioner as his legal, administrative and personal assistant. First and foremost, this position requires a person with extensive civil litigation experience. Our client is a boutique construction law firm with the majority of the lawyer's practice involving builders' liens and tendering law. A significant percentage of the work involves preparing Court documents and Land Titles documents. All documents and correspondence are dictated so that there is a great deal of transcription, including lengthy correspondence. The firm uses the litigation support software program Summation for larger files and the candidate should be familiar with that program or at least willing to be trained. In addition, our client gives presentations on builders' liens and tendering law at a number of seminars each year. Each seminar requires written papers and more often than not a PowerPoint seminar. In addition, our client looks to his assistant for personal work--be it flight arrangements (through travel agent), hotels, car rentals, correspondence or any other tasks which arise.
Furthermore this assistant will be expected to act in an office managerial capacity acting on our client's instructions and reporting directly to him. This entails overseeing and distributing the work as necessary, overseeing receptionist duties which include phones, mail, filing and transcription of dictation, overseeing office supply ordering, staff training, hiring and firing as directed. This position also coordinates with their full time bookkeeper regarding accounts receivables, accounts payables, monthly billings and any other matters.
