IN-HOUSE -- LEGAL/SENIOR COUNSEL
Location: Calgary, Alberta
General Job Description:
Market leader in design, build, and construction seeks attorney with a minimum of 5 years of construction EPC (Engineering Procurement Contract) experience. Position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and risk management skills, ability to engage in strategic planning, knowledge of construction industry and ability to partner with management.
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and guidance to management and personnel on matters affecting the Company's engineering, procurement, construction, and related activities. Review, prepare, and negotiate EPC contracts, joint venture and consortium agreements, proposals, and other legal documents. Assist in risk assessment and management of proposed commitments. Partner with senior management on strategic initiatives, and other personnel to achieve business goals.
Requirements:
JD or LLB degree required with active bar membership.
5+ years of construction law experience (i.e., EPC, engineering, construction program management and related experience).
Experience negotiating and drafting significant business transaction documents. Oil and gas experience is highly desired; power, mining, water, infrastructure will also be considered.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.
