Position Overview
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for implementing and coordinating policies and programs to support people practices. This role is responsible for providing front-line human resource consultation and services to all areas of CMD CARSTAR Group operations in our multiple locations in Calgary, which includes CARSTAR Calgary Inglewood, Downtown, Sunridge & East Lake.

Job Functions
• Provide appropriate advice and guidance to managers/supervisors/Owners on Human Resource practices and employee relations issues, including interpreting of employment standards, company policies, or other applicable regulations
• Provide support and guidance on recruitment and selection practices, performance management, and compensation issues
• Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotions and employee benefits
• Develop and facilitate Employee Orientation and Onboarding for new employees
• Responsible for maintaining HR documents and policies and reviewing and updating for continuous improvement;
• Manage Personnel Documents and Maintain Central files (e.g. employee files, records on performance, probation, absenteeism, discipline) as well as maintain information in HR Information System (HRIS), provide and develop reports as needed
• Manage employee recognition and Birthday program.
• Coordinate and chair the OH&S Committee, keep abreast of H&S or Occupational issues, and/or act as a representative to ensure a safe workplace
• Manage WCB reports and claims, represent company for related investigations or hearings
• Assist in resolving work related problems between employees, including participation in disciplinary interviews and supporting with other employee relations issues
• Manage and identify areas for improvement in employee retention strategies, employee satisfaction and productivity
• Organize, coordinate and control on-site and off-site training and facilitate committees and/or special events, as needed, and other related duties

Requirements
• 3 -- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a human resources role or management position combined with human resource experience, preference in a service related industry
• Related degree or diploma, and a CHRP designation (or working to complete the certification process) is considered a strong asset for this position.
• Proven ability to develop business relationships and the ability to influence others
• Customer service focus, able to take initiative and work independently
• Knowledge and experience in OH&S considered an asset
• Coaching and leadership skills, for both formal and informal situations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficient in MS Office and with HRIS systems, including reporting features
• Conflict management, negotiation, and problem solving skills
• Occasional travel between the Calgary CARSTAR franchise locations will be required
