CAREER OPPORTUNITY: COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The Organization
The SHARP Foundation is a Calgary-based non-profit organization committed to providing a continuum of care including physical, medical, psychosocial and spiritual support to those individuals infected and affected by HIV / AIDS.

This innovative organization is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as an integral part of its team as Communications Coordinator to manage all aspects of SHARP's communications strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain relationships with community supporters, including corporate partners, community groups, and individuals
• Coordinate communication elements, including the creation of marketing materials, the building of relationships and the fulfillment of all elements of effective partnerships
• Create and implement strategies to maximize communications strategies.
• Ensure ongoing communication throughout the year with all stakeholders
• Working with the Executive Director, oversee and coordinate all elements pertaining to the communications of SHARP's giving program, including solicitation, follow up and prospecting
• Assist with developing communications strategies targeted to fund development initiatives including third-party fundraising.
• Actively participate in key community events and organizations that may cultivate relationships or promote SHARP
• Maintain communication and strong working relationships across the organization to ensure integration between staff, committee members and other volunteers
• Incorporate Board of Directors and other volunteers into communications activities
• Evaluate current and future communications
• Participate in meetings with Communications and Fund Development Committees of the Board of Directors; ex-officio member of both committees
• Assist in managing a budget
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Post-Secondary Education (communications, business marketing, or related).
• Highly motivated; extroverted.
• Strong understanding and skills in the use of social media (facebook, myspace, twitter, etc.)
• Strong computer skills (MS Office, InDesign, web development tools, etc.)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, housing and poverty issues.
• Commitment to working with diverse populations.
• Strong commitment to a team oriented environment.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Experience working directly with Boards of Directors and Communications & Fund Development Committees.
Reports To: Executive Director
Salary: Negotiable dependent upon experience and education.
