Network Analyst II (Calgary)
Job summary:
Working directly with our clients, Britec's Network Analyst II develops, maintains, modifies and troubleshoots customer requirements in their technical environment. Under project-level direction from the Service Line Manager and the District Manager, the Network Analyst II will take initiative and ownership of projects by providing technical direction in the deployment and maintenance of networked systems.
Summary of essential job functions:
• Install, upgrade, troubleshoot and maintain operating systems and applications in support of business requirements
• Employ monitoring and tuning to manage capacity of resources and validate disaster recovery measures to ensure the systems are secure and reliable
• Assist with the design of network and system plans, including implementation and maintenance
• Act as the Network Administrator, including use and maintenance of Novell, MS Windows, LINUX/UNIX, Citrix, WAN/LAN infrastructure, Internet access, e-mail, security, data integrity and virus protection maintenance
• Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems
• Provide technical support (hardware and software) and troubleshooting for clients and accounts
• Provide recommendations on equipment, products and programs to be offered to, or purchased for, clients
• Prepare requisitions for computer hardware/software purchases
• Perform system backups and recovery
• Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity
• Provide end-user support for all network applications
• Install and configure workstations, if required
• May provide individual or group training for client on networking systems
• Provide updates and reports for project and client status
• Accurately estimate time required for, and record time spent on, support and project work
• Notice, report and facilitate the detection of problems and potential issues on any client site or facility to best adhere to standards and reduce downtime
• Pursue self-improvement, maintain and develop skills, certifications and personal development in cooperation with the company and its initiatives
Qualifications Required:
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering combined with three to five years of related experience
• Expert knowledge of: MS Networking , MS Base Server Platforms (NT 4.0, 2000, 2003, 2008, 2008 R2) and Virtualization platforms (VMWare and Hyper-V)
• Experience with: Heterogeneous environments (MS, Novell, Unix/Linux), Citrix/Remote Desktop Server, MS Services (Exchange, SQL, IIS), Back-up hardware/software, Internet Security (VPN, firewalls, anti-virus)
• Require MCSE and other credentials such as CNA, CCA, LPI or CCNA and at least 3 years of progressive experience with networks
• This position is subject to call outs as it supports a critical 24/7 infrastructure
• Own vehicle, Drivers License and a clean driving record
• Candidates offered a position may be required to obtain a criminal record check, verifying a clear record before employment can be obtained. A driver's abstract may also be required
