Position Title: Programmer Analyst - GIS
Employment Status: Full Time Term
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Summary
NOTE: This position is a 3 year fulltime term position.
AltaLink is seeking a highly motivated team player with proven programming, analytical and problem solving skills to join the INOIS (Integrated Network Operations & Infor Services) department. Reporting to the Manager, IS Operations and working closely with GIS Application Specialist, this position will be responsible for application development and user support within AltaLink's information technology environment .
The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn new skills along with the ability to adapt quickly to changing expectations and to meet deadlines. You are a self-starter who can work independently and cooperate well as a team member, multi-task, balance and organize multiple priorities, work well under pressure in an extremely fast-paced environment. Strong project management and leadership skills as well as demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
• Designing, analyzing, coding, testing, debugging, maintaining and documenting complex programs considering the capacity and limitations of the equipment, operating time and form of desired results.
• Design, develop, and maintain Web mapping sites and applications through concept, design, and implementation phases.
• Understanding client's requirements and developing applications accordingly.
• Modifying procedures to solve the most complex problems.
• Preparing detailed specifications from which the most complex programs will be created;
• Analyzing and revising existing system logic difficulties of the highest complexity.
• Assisting in the formulation and the definition of system scope and objectives.
• Providing sustained support of applications.
• Assisting in the assessment of user enhancement requests.
• Participate in other duties as required.
Qualifications
• Degree in Geomatics Engineering, GIS, Computer Science with a minimum of five years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• The Programmer Analyst is proficient in most aspects of computer programming and many computer languages including;
• Proven development experience with ESRI technologies including ArcObject, ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Image Server.
• Geoprocessing with Python
• Proven experience developing Web map applications using GIS Services and ArcGIS server's REST, JavaScript (API's), ArcGIS Server .Net ADF.
• Developing and deploying ArcMap/ArcCatalog Extensions
• MS ASP.NET
• MS .Net
• MS Visual Basic
• MS SQL Server database design, implementation and maintenance.
