Automotive Software Engineer (Calgary)

Alternative Fuel Systems (AFS) is a leading provider of engine management controllers for natural gas vehicles worldwide. Our electronic hardware and software is currently operating in tens of thousands of cars, trucks and buses around the globe. Working with vehicle manufacturers, we design custom controllers for specific applications and features, then we calibrate the engines at our Calgary facility for optimum power and minimum emissions. Often we have test vehicles from places like India and Thailand sent to us for further on-road testing. Natural gas is growing quickly as a vehicle fuel that provides significant economic, environmental and political benefits.
We're looking for a software engineer to join our development team at our Calgary facility, especially one that is:
• Proficient in C
• Knowledgeable in Visual Basic or Visual Studio
• Experienced with Matlab Simulink / Stateflow graphical programming tools
• Familiar with embedded control systems and real-time operating systems
You'll administer or assist with analysis, design, assessment, organization, implementation, testing, maintenance, and re-engineering of our software. This includes engine control firmware, calibration interface and instrumentation software, communication software, testbed control software, end-of-line flashing tools and related software. You'll work on interesting and diverse projects within a dedicated team of engineers and technicians. You should have knowledge and enthusiasm for all things automotive, a sound engineering approach to problem solving, and you need to be able to document and communicate clearly.
