About the Opportunity
Due to expansion, Foremost Industries is looking to hire a Journeyman Machinist and Apprentice Machinist for their shop in Calgary, Alberta.
The primary purpose of these roles is the responsibility for operating and repairing machining tools and parts as well as verifying the dimensions of machined tools and parts using precision measuring instruments.
The Journeyman Machinist will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Working without direction to more complicated verbal instruction, drawings, sketches, etc.;
- Operating all types of Machine Shop (CNC and conventional) equipment and performing all machining functions for any major or minor components for vehicles or rigs or part thereof (CNC personnel must have the ability to program, set-up and operate their respective machines);
- Assisting less experienced personnel with work methods, work habits and performance; and
- Maintaining a set of tools to perform machining functions.
The successful candidate must be a qualified licensed tradesperson in the Province of Alberta, and the position would suit applicants who have their Journeyman Certification and have several years experience in a similar role.
The Apprentice Machinist position will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Working under the direction and/or verbal instruction of more senior employees in accordance with normal Apprentice regulation until
necessary schooling is completed (and then is elevated to higher classification);
- Performing work in their respective trades utilizing skills and equipment required;
- Purchasing and maintaining a set of tools to perform functions as experience dictates; and
- Attaining Journeyman status within five (5) years of registration.
The successful candidate must have certification from a recognized training facility, or has demonstrated the ability to meet the above requirements to the satisfaction of Management.
The successful Apprentice Machinist will be a reliable, well organized person who is eager to learn, but can also be trusted to work unsupervised when required.

About the Benefits
In reward for your efforts you will be given generous rates of up to $32.56 for Journeyman Machinists and up to$28.70 for fourth year Apprentice Machinists including overtime premiums.
