This position will be part of a national business improvement team, focusing on business process improvement and re-engineering.
The Intermediate Business Analyst will be responsible for gathering and documenting current business practices, procedures and challenges. You will play a pivotal role in analyzing and re-engineering of business processes to support business objectives. The Intermediate Business Analyst role will also assist with ensuring the proposed design is developed and implemented to meet the needs of the customers/stakeholders.
Accountabilities
• Perform current state and future state analysis and design
• Develop common test data
• Build and test the application or technical architecture components
• Work with other programmers, designers, business systems analysts and architects to ensure that the development efforts meet the application requirements of our customer
• Inform the project leadership team of issues that may affect any other areas of the project
• Participate in transition of the applications or technical architecture components to the testers
• In cooperation with developer(s), assist in fixing any defects and performance problems discovered during testing
• Document the application to facilitate maintenance and end-user training and assist in transition to operations and/or users
Required Education
• Business analyst certification and/or comparable education program or equivalent experience
Required Experience
• 6+ years experience in relevant IT area (development, QA, PM, Architecture) or 8+ years in general Information Systems
Required Skills and Abilities
• Should have demonstrated workflow design and development abilities with strong knowledge of relational database concepts
• Must have strong analytical skills and significant knowledge of transforming customer requirements into a workable design at the functional and/or technical levels
• Must have the ability to translate functional business requirements into technical terms relevant to the package applications and the ability to coordinate and assist with detailed technical design and development tasks in conjunction with an application developer
• Must have the ability to comprehend complex situations, break down into components and identify key or underlying issues
• Must have the ability to systematically organize and compare the various aspects of a problem or situation and determine cause-and-effect relationships (“if…then…”) to resolve problems in a sound, decisive manner; ensuring the validity or accuracy of all information
• Knowledge and/or experience in designing and/or delivering Joint Application Design and Rapid Application Design sessions preferred
• Knowledge of development process concepts and principles preferred
• Previous experience of working in a project environment is an asset
• Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture is an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to accurately document complex business and systems flows
• Energetic and self motivated with a willingness to learn and a strong spirit of innovation
