Peoplesoft Senior Developer (Calgary)

Position Overview
This position will be part of a national business improvement team, focusing on business process improvement and re-engineering.
Taking direction from the architects and business leads, the Senior Developer will be responsible for the technical design, application development and unit testing of various components of our business improvement re-engineering efforts. This position will clearly identify and understand business requirements, implement appropriate PeopleSoft functionality, and utilize the PeopleSoft technical environments and development standards to deliver quality systems, reports and processes. You will also lead and assist junior members of the development team.
Accountabilities
• Perform the detailed technical design of application and technical architecture components based on input from business systems analysts and application solutions architects
• Transform customer requirements into a workable design at the functional and/or technical levels
• Develop common test data
• Build and test the application or technical architecture components
• Work with other programmers, designers, business systems analysts and architects to make sure that the development meets application requirements and performance goals
• Lead code reviews
• Inform the technical architect and project manager of any issues that may affect any other areas of the project
• Participate in transitions of the application or technical architecture components to the testers
• Fix any defects and performance problems discovered in testing
• Document the application to facilitate maintenance
• Participation in user design and review sessions
Required Education
• University degree or community college diploma in Computer Programming or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Abilities
• Oracle/PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) version 8.8 (minimum)
• Experience with PeopleSoft Time and Labour version 8.8 and/or Kronos Workforce Central 5.1 an asset
• Workflow development highly desired
• Working knowledge of relational database concepts
• Familiar with Joint Application Design (JAD) session
• Familiar with development process concepts and principles
• Strong functional knowledge of the package application: configuration/development experience
• Previous experience of working in a large project environment required
• Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture is an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong documentation skills required
• Energetic and self motivated with a willingness to learn and a strong spirit of innovation is highly desirable
