Health Policy Analyst (Calgary)

The Fraser Institute has an opening for a Health Policy Analyst in its Calgary office. This position offers considerable scope to help set and contribute to the Fraser Institute’s leading edge work on hospital waiting lists, hospital report cards, and health related issues in Canada and around the world.
Role & Responsibilities
This full-time position, based in Calgary, requires someone with superior data analysis skills. Reporting to the Director of Health System Performance Studies, the Health Policy Analyst will be responsible for:
• Managing large data sets in SPSS & MS Access and conducting statistical analyses;
• Managing and overseeing survey projects and other research programs in the department
• Writing and editing research reports and documents;
• Contributing articles to Institute publications, newspaper opinion columns, and other publications on issues pertaining to health policy.
• Participating in other institutional activities involving annual planning, student seminars, events, weekly meetings, etc.
Candidate Qualifications and Background
Strong candidates will have these qualifications and experiences:
• A Master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Sciences, or a related field;
• A genuine interest and solid grounding in Canadian health issues;
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical practices;
• Experience with SPSS and MS Access programming
• Knowledge of and experience with statistical and econometric analyses;
• Experience with project management an asset;
• French language skills an asset;
• Theoretical and empirical grounding in the role of competitive markets
