BENEFITS ANALYST (Calgary )

Our client is a top manufacturing company located in the South East of Calgary is seeking a qualified Benefits Analyst to join their professional team. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Benefits Analyst is responsible for managing benefit design, contract interpretation, compliance and payroll support for group health and welfare as well as RRSP programs.
Responsibilities include:
Identify and recommend best practices for managing and controlling benefits costs administration across the company including team work with Payroll and Accounting
Document and maintain consistent process for Disability Payment Calculation and administration which will include two systems. One for time worked and one for time off
Maintain and monitor company burden development and monthly reconciliation. Analyze, approve and pay invoices
Compile, audit and prepare benefits reports as needed for management
Work with HRIS to implement system updates/changes as they relate to new plan or policy/procedure requirements. Documenting and implementing benefit administration process changes
Responsible for compliance for the organization as it relates to befit plan design, coverage, and administration
Review and submit plan documents for approval as needed. Develop relationship with Broker and Attorney as provided by the Director of HR in providing support for benefit renewal, total compensation market reviews and special projects
Develop and implement benefit communication plan in connection with call center provided by the Broker, Coordinate various communication plans as needed.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Employee Benefits professional, with a solid understanding of disability claim administration to include an understanding of Employee Insurance and coordination of various leave programs coordination between Alberta province and the company. The successful candidate will also have excellent presentation skills, takes initiative in pursuing objectives and ensuring deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of employee group benefits administration encompassing both group health and welfare and RRSP programs, including an excellent understanding of Alberta provincial rules and regulations couple with strong negotiation skills
Strong computer skills (MS Excel and PowerPoint) and excellent presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with personnel in Payroll, Finance and HR to gather information and implement change
Possess ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills and good attention to detail
Demonstrate strong leadership skills
Liaise with benefits providers regarding benefits plans offered by the company
Ensure employee inquiries are handled in a timely and professional manner
A CHRP and/or CEBS designation would be considered a strong asset
Complete other duties are assigned and/or required for the Human Resources department
